When you connect your PC to an RS232 device and the ground system is no good state but you don’t know of it, it may lead to your devices in damage and downtime in a hurry!
Or your project which requires 3 wire RS232 communication between devices ( says two PCB boards) have really huge ground loop noise that messes up the real signal.

imple Operation
Its female connector is wired as a DCE and should be connected to a DTE port. The male connector is a DTE and should be connected to a DCE port. If you are connecting a DTE to a DTE or a DCE to a DCE, a null modem cable will be needed (not included).
